Our Quality Results are In! |
|
For 2006, Tele-Tech's Local
Calling Area Database measured 99.9839% accurate. "It
is a very good quality rate, of which I am very proud,"
says Vice President of Information Systems and
Operations Stephanie Fetchen.
Clients repeatedly tell us accuracy is the most
important factor in using our database. When customers
or potential customers compare our data directly to our
competitors' data, we analyze the differences.
"In a large majority of the cases, our data is
correct and the competition is wrong," says Fetchen.
Three factors help us maintain the high quality of
our data.
- Ongoing Training
- Root-cause Analysis
- Automated Quality Checks
On-going training sharpens our data analysts'
skills, allowing them to share ideas and
solutions and implement new procedures or systems as
needed. When we find errors, we get to the root of
the problem, documenting how it happened, so it
doesn't occur again. Plus, not only is data checked
by hand, our software automatically checks the
information for accuracy repeatedly.
"We want to prevent errors before they happen," says
Director of Operations Linda Chugon, who leads our
customer service department. "When errors happen, we
take care of the problem immediately."
Our quality assurance
practices create nearly 100 percent
accurate data that generates
confidence and trust in our product. A client
recently found discrepancies between our data in the
New York metro area and another local calling area
website, to which his colleagues referred him. We
researched the data and found our information was
correct. The client didn't even question our
research. He told us our data was the most up to
date, and they were going to take our word.

Giving Back... |
|
She had to travel over
the "Mountain of Death" to get there. Thankfully, our
receptionist, Melissa West, survived to tells us about
her journey to Central America. Melissa, who has been
with Tele-Tech Services for 5 years, recently returned
from a mission trip to San Isidro, Costa Rica. She spent
10 days there, with 13 other people, to help build a
church. The group, made up of men and women from
Melissa's church and another congregation, raised
$30,000 for the supplies.
When they arrived at the
site, Melissa's team quickly went to work. Another team
had already built the foundation and
framework
of the church Melissa's team finished the roof and
walls. That involved applying putty between the creases
and edges of the cement walls. Then, they waited for
that to dry before sanding. The 90-degree heat cracked
the putty, so they had to apply another coat. Melissa
thought summers in Charleston were hot, but at least
there's air conditioning to which you can escape for
relief.
"It was hard work,"
Melissa recalled.
Her favorite part of
the trip was spending time with the local children. At
one event, they painted children's faces, entertained
them with balloon animals, and snapped Polaroid
portraits. She also helped them string together beads
and make bracelets. Melissa could tell by their beaming
faces, this was something very special for them.
"Something our kids
here would throw away, the children were so happy to
get," said Melissa. "They were smiling and
overwhelmed."
Melissa plans to go
back next year. That means she'll again face that
steep, winding road locals call the "Mountain of
Death." But for Melissa, that's just part of the
adventure.

NPA Updates:
Illinois
New Mexico
815-779 NPA
Implementation of the 779 NPA is underway. The
change affects customers in the northern Illinois
communities of Belvidere, Crystal Lake, De Kalb,
Dixon, Freeport, Hanover, Joliet, Kankakee, Ottawa,
Pontiac, Princeton, Rockford, Sterling and Watseka.
Mandatory Dialing begins February 17, 2007. All calls
within the 815 area code must be dialed as 1+10-digits.
The effective date for the new 779 NPA is March 17,
2007. New telephone lines or services may be assigned
using the new NPA, 779 at that time. All calls will need
to be dialed using a 1+10-digit pattern.
505 NPA Split
On November 9, 2006, the New Mexico Public Regulation
Commission ordered a 2-way geographic split as the
relief method for the 505 NPA, which serves the entire
state of New Mexico.
The northwestern region of the state will retain the
existing 505 NPA after the split. The new 575 NPA will
serve the rest of the state.
Permissive dialing starts October 7, 2007. Mandatory
dialing begins October 5, 2008.
217-447 NPA Overlay
The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC)
ordered an overlay for the 217 NPA, and NPA 447 has
been designated as the relief area code. Local calls
will require 10-digit dialing with 1+10-digit
permissive dialing at the service provider's
discretion. Toll calls will require 1+10-digit
dialing. The ICC has ordered that the industry
complete its network updates and have permissive
dialing in place by February 2007. NANPA will hold
an industry meeting to establish a 13-month
implementation interval for the 217-447 NPA overlay.
