On April 8, 2015 the Indiana Regulatory Commission (IURC) approved an all-services overlay as the relief method for the 317 NPA. The 317 NPA serves the central area of Indiana. The new 463 NPA will serve the same geographic area currently served by the existing 317 NPA. Because of the overlay relief method, ten digit dialing will be required for all calls in this area before central office codes can be assigned to the new NPA. Permissive ten-digit dialing begins March 19, 2016, and mandatory ten-digit dialing begins September 17, 2016. The earliest activate date for central office codes in the 461 NPA is October 17, 2016.
NPA 743 has been assigned to overlay the Piedmont area of North Carolina that is currently served by NPA 336. Optional ten-digit dialing begins in the area on October 24, 2015, with mandatory ten-digit dialing starting April 23, 2016. The earliest activation of NXX codes in the 743 area code is May 23, 2016.
NPA 934 has been assigned to overlay the existing 631 NPA that serves Suffolk County, New York. Optional ten-digit dialing begins July 18, 2015, and mandatory ten-digit dialing for all calls beings June 18, 2016. The earliest possible activation date for NXX codes in the new 934 NPA is July 16, 2016.
New area code 548 will be added to the geographic area of southwestern Ontario currently served by the 226 and 519 area codes. Phone numbers will be assigned in the new area code beginning June 4, 2016. When the new 548 NPA is introduced, no changes will take place to the dialing patterns in the area.
On August 13, 2014 the North Carolina Utilities Commission approved a new area code, 743, to be assigned to the same geographic area currently served by area code 336. The currently 336 NPA covers the Piedmont area, which includes High Point, North Wilkesboro, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Asheboro. The first date for assignment of numbers in the new 743 NPA is May 23, 2016.
On July 18, 2014, the Florida Public Service Commission, (FPSC) approved the expansion of the 305-786 NPA concentrated overlay into Monroe County for the remaining Florida Keys rate center which includes communities such as Big Pine Key, Islamorada, Key Colony Beach, Key Largo, Key West, Layton, Marathon, North Key Largo and Sugar Loaf Shores. NXXs in the 786 area code will be assigned in the Florida Keys rate center beginning June 1, 2015. See the full planning letter for more details.
The South Carolina Public Service Commission has approved an all services overlay to provide relief for the 843 NPA, which serves the coastal communities of Charleston, Florence, Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved an all services overlay to provide relief for the 740 NPA, which serves the southeastern portion of the state. Communities include Athens, Cambridge, Delaware, Jackson, Lancaster, Marion, Newark, Marietta, Portsmouth and Zanesville.

The California Public Utilities Commission has approved an all services overlay to provide relief for the 415 NPA, which serves communities in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo counties.

The Tennessee Regulatory Authority has approved an all services overlay to provide relief for the 615 NPA, which serves the Tennessee communities of Franklin, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Murfreesboro, Nashville and Springfield.
